Influence of Pancreatin on the Stability of Gastroresistant Coatings / 4th Communication: Proof of storage conditioned ageing of gastroresistant films

It is possible to demonstrate Chemical ageing by means of infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, ele-mental analysis and determination of free phthalic acid by examining the enteric coating of film-coated tablets. The examination of the entire coating allows the detection of degradation products with Hydroxy-propyl methylcellulose phthalate (HPMCP)-films that are relatively resistant to hydrolysis. Furthermore it is possible to show that hydrolysis depends on the pancreatin used. Depending on the storage conditions used, free phthalic acid or its salts may be demonstrated for the CAP coating agent.
