News from the EMA Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products Dr. Barbara Steinhoff Bundesverband der Arzneimittel-Hersteller e. V. (BAH), Bonn (Germany) The Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) met for the 31st, 32nd and 33rd time at the EMA offices on 16 – 17 September 2009, 11 – 12 November 2009 and 14 January 2010, respectively, under the chairmanship of Dr. Konstantin Keller, Germany. Again, many new guidance documents were discussed in the HMPC’s working parties and subgroups, e. g. in the Working Party on Community Monographs and Community List (MLWP) which is chaired by Professor Ioanna Chinou, Greece. All drafts released for public consultation as well as the finalised documents can be found on the EMA website (www.ema.europa.eu). Some important new documents, which might be of particular interest for the herbal industry, will be discussed in the following. |
