News from the EMEA Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products Dr. Barbara Steinhoff Bundesverband der Arzneimittel-Hersteller e. V. (BAH), Bonn The Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) met for the 28th, 29th and 30th time at the EMEA offices on 11 – 12 March, 13 – 14 May and 15 – 16 July 2009, respectively, under the chairmanship of Dr. Konstantin Keller, Germany. In all of these meetings, many new guidance documents were discussed in the HMPC’s working parties and subgroups, e. g. in the Working Party on Community Monographs and Community List (MLWP) which was chaired by Professor Ioanna Chinou, Greece. Dr. Werner Knöss, Germany was elected vice-chair of this group in March 2009. All drafts released for public consultation as well as the finalised documents can be found on the EMEA website (www.emea.europa.eu). Some important new documents, which might be of particular interest for the herbal industry, will be discussed in the following. |
