Having analysed drivers and hurdles of implementation some potential of RFID application has been identified within clinical supply chain. Following the “think big, start smart” strategy and embedded in thoroughly investigated business processes a pilot project named SIMPL (Standardization of Investigational Medicinal Product Labels) is described with solutions for and work-arounds of current hurdles.
