Stärkeextrusion als neues Herstellungsverfahren für RetardpräparateHubert Rein Pharmazeutische Technologie im Pharmazeutischen Institut der Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, Bonn Starch Extrusion as a New Production Method for Slow-release Preparations Starch extrusion on extruders with sufficient power at a temperature range between 50 and < 100 °C lead to a transparent, hard, brittle and amorphous material, which can be used for the production of peroral sustained release dosage forms. Dispersions made of amorphous starch and an active agent, e.g. coffein or theophylline, show a dissolution characteristic according to a square root of time law. The dissolution rate depends on the used starch and the extrusion conditions, esp. the energy input, measured as specific-mechanic energy and temperature.
