    Abstract

    This article shows potential and practical implementation of UV-oxidation for destruction of pollutants and micropollutants, like endocrine or antibiotic compounds in strong chemical and pharmaceutical wastewater. An overview of typical technologies used for treatment of industrial wastewater with assets and drawbacks is given. Compounds that need to be oxidized in the described applications are 1,4-dioxane, EDTA, pyrolidones, aromatics (phenols, toluene, …), VOCs, EE2, various Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), surfactants and FOG (= Fat, Oil and Grease).
