(VFA), Berlin Counterfeit drugs are a growing threat for the public. As a consequence joint efforts have been undertaken by the legislators and industry during the last five years to combat counterfeit medicines more effectively. Many activities are already underway at international and European levels which continuously are being updated. There are considerations to enforce the protection of medicines by identification of each individual package both in Europe and in the United States. A pilot project concerning “Track & Trace” could start in Germany in the near future. This project intends to test how mass serialization of pharmaceutical packages by a two-dimensional data matrix code could be done and their movement tracked until the end of the supply chain. |
