News from the EMA Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products Dr. Barbara Steinhoff Bundesverband der Arzneimittel-Hersteller e. V. (BAH), Bonn
The Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) met for the 34th, 35th and 36th time at the EMA offices on 10–11 March, 5–6 May and 14–15 July 2010, respectively, under the chairmanship of Dr. Konstantin Keller, Germany. Again, many new guidance documents were discussed in the HMPC’s working parties and subgroups, e. g. in the Working Party on Community Monographs and Community List (MLWP). All drafts released for public consultation as well as the finalised documents can be found on the (recently newly structured) EMA website (www.ema.europa.eu) . Some important new documents, which might be of particular interest for the herbal industry, are discussed in the following.
