This article describes a new way of investing and working with barrier isolators in a much more flexible way than was previously possible. The key point is the interchangeable filling machine equipment for different packaging formats like vials or nested syringes that can be complemented with lyophilisation processes. Other process equipment can be mounted on L-flanges, e.g. sterility test pumps, bag fillers, stopper bag filling equipment and equipment for many other pharmaceutical processes.
